RC SPRING SHOOTOUT

Anthony’s Victory Lane sponsored the 2nd Annual RC Spring Shootout on April 22nd & 23rd at 5 Star Family Fun Park in Pooler, Ga. The two-day event attracted 54 entries among 7 divisions of oval racers for trucks and 1/10 and 1/12 scale cars. Entries came from all of the southeast region including Florida, South Carolina and cities throughout Georgia.
On Saturday the schedule included open practice, qualifing and concourse judging. Sunday included a qualifing race and then at 1pm the main event.
In the Sportsman Stock the top qualifier Patrick Rossiter of Savannah took the win followed by Mitchell Burkey of South Carolina and Kevin Lang from Florida in third with only 5 seconds between the 3.
The 1/12 scale 19t was won by top qualifier Clifford Kline of Macon a lap ahead of Tim Vezzi of Savannah in 2nd and Mitchell Burkey in 3rd.
The expert stock class had an A and B main with top qualifier Phil Owen of Brunswick only mustering up a third place finish in the A-main event won by Scott Balph of Pooler followed by Andy Thompson of Macon in 2nd and Dennis Radnoff of South Carolina in fourth all on the same lap with only 4 seconds between the four.
In the expert stock B-main Kenny Snodgrass from Sarasota ,Fla. took the win followed by David Mullin of Dublin and Willis Lancaster from Quitman, Ga. in 3rd.
In the 19T truck stock class James Seckinger of Pooler in a Sponge Bob truck took top qualifing spot and 1st in the Main. Followed by Kevin Lang and Tim Vezzi in 3rd.
The Legends Stock class was a fun one with Patrick Rossiter taking the win and top qualifier. Mike Wilson was 2nd and Anna Balph in 3rd both of Pooler.
Bomber stock class was dominated by Andy Thompson of Macon who took the win and top qualifier. Clate Fail of Brooklet, Ga took 2nd. Anna Balph was 3rd.
The touring stock was an exciting one. Bubba Ryan was top qualifier and took the win. Brandon Bennett 12 years old of Pooler, Ga in only his 3rd race took 2nd after getting off the drivers stand and repairing his car to finish the race. Tommy Harvey of Savannah was 3rd.
The last class of the event was 19T Touring Oval with Kenny Snodgrass as top qualifier with 50 laps ,but had to settle for 2nd place in the main which was won by Jason Brown of Pooler. Scott Balph took 3rd.
The level of competition and the attendance was awesome and we can’t wait for the RC Showdown On The Coast in November.
